To answer some of your questions as quickly as possible, we’ve compiled a list of those most frequently asked by Ki Charter parents. Be sure to read more throughout this website and in our student handbook so you’re well-informed and prepared to support your child along their educational journey.
We are thrilled to welcome new members to our community! Please visit our Registration page for information about enrolling your child at Ki Charter. You may also download and print a copy of the registration forms and bring the completed forms, together with the required documentation, to our main office.
We operate an excellent nutrition program through San Marcos Treatment Center at no additional cost to students and staff, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this service. If you choose to send additional food with your child, please help us protect those with allergies by sending only pre-packaged, store-bought food. Depending upon our student population, we may enforce stricter guidelines at any time, in which case, your child’s teacher will inform you.
School employees can only administer first aid treatment to our students. We cannot administer medications. If treatment for an illness or injury requires other than minor first aid attention, we will contact the San Marcos Treatment Center (SMTC) unit nurse who will proceed with treatment according SMTC policy. If the unit nurse cannot be reached and immediate medical attention is necessary, the student will be transported by a local emergency medical team to the nearest medical facility.
Parent Portal is just another way we keep communication between home and school strong. It provides you with almost real-time access to your child’s grades, attendance history, and other important information. To receive your log-in information, you will need to complete a Parent Portal application. We will then email you a username and password along with log-in instructions. If you need additional help, please call the front office.
The school day at San Marcos Campus runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the Liberty Hill Campus runs from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If your child must miss school, please call the school office on the day of his/her absence. For information about attendance requirements and what qualifies as an excused absence, please refer to our student handbook. Students are responsible to collect and make up class work when absent.
We expect our students to dress in an appropriate manner at all times. Student dress may not present a health or safety hazard, violate municipal, county, or state law, or present a potential disruption of the educational process. Generally, we do not allow the following:
Clothing with any logo, writing, symbols, or numbers that reflect violence, malicious behavior, offensive language, sexual innuendo, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or anything otherwise considered disruptive or gang-related
Students on school property or at any school activity to wear, possess, use, distribute, display, or sell any clothing, jewelry, bandana, emblem, badge, symbol, sign, or other item perceived as evidence of membership in or affiliation with a gang
We do not allow students to use electronic communication devices, including cellular phones, during the instructional day. Junior high and high school students may possess such devices, but they must be turned in to the administration office upon arrival and will be returned to the student at the end of the day.
Students can access the Internet for homework and school-related research from our classrooms under the supervision of qualified school personnel. We require all students to abide by our Acceptable Use Policy. We expect our students to behave responsibly on school computer networks.
All schedule changes must be made by our counseling staff and approved by the principal. If you need to make a scheduling change, complete and return a Principal Conference Request (available from your teacher) to make an appointment. Continue attending your scheduled class until the change is finalized.
We welcome visitors at Ki Charter. However, in an effort to maintain a safe campus and protect our students, all visitors must sign in at the front office and present identification. Identification must provide (at a minimum) the visitor’s name and date of birth. This allows us to process all visitors through the Texas Department of Public Safety’s sex offender registry. We issue all visitors a badge that must remain visible at all times. Upon departure, we ask visitors to sign out at the front office and return their badge.
